BOBCAT RECOMMENDATION:  Top Five follows a day in the life of a comedian who wants to be taken seriously in his upcoming film, and his interactions with a reporter doing a profile piece on him. This is easily one of my favorite movies of the year. It’s funny, it’s real, and it’s heartfelt. Chris Rock nailed this movie and did a fantastic job as a director. Go see this film!!! It’s definitely for an adult audience though, so do not take your kids!

Theory of Everything

BOBCAT RECOMMENDATION: Theory of Everything follows the romantic tale of Stephan Hawking and his first wife Jane Wilde. This film will punch you in the heart and drop kick you right in the feels. I would recommend this film to anyone and everyone. It is a little sad during some scenes, and uplifting in others. It’s a great movie, and I’m really happy I went to see it. Go see this film as soon as possible!!! Five stars all the way!

The Hobbit: Battle of The Five Armies

BOBCAT RECOMMENDATION: The third installment of the series is by far the most action packed. Fans of the series, the book by J.R.R. Tolkien, or the Lord of the Ring trilogy will definitely enjoy the film. I wouldn’t recommend the film to someone who hasn’t seen the first two films. I can barely follow the films and I have seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy, read the Hobbit book, and saw the first two Hobbit movies. It’s just a little hard to follow. If you saw the first two, then I would recommend finishing out this epic adventure. If you don’t know the difference between Bilbo and Frodo then I wouldn’t waste your money seeing this in theaters  because you won’t understand the plot. Overall, it was a really enjoyable film.

Exodus: Gods and Kings

Exodus: Gods and Kings tells the biblical story of Moses and how he helped lead the Jews out of slavery in Egypt. Christian Bale played Moses, and Joel Edgerton portrayed the Pharaoh Ramses. Ridley Scott directed the film.

While I love most Ridley Scott films such as Alien, and Prometheus this film was a huge disappointment. The special effects and visuals are amazing but that is all this film really has. Christian Bale was terrific as usual, but no one else seemed to shine. This movie was rather long, and my butt started to fall asleep which I wouldn’t have noticed had this been a better movie. I felt the trailer of the movie built this movie up to be another Ridley Scott masterpiece such as Gladiator but it wasn’t even close.

BOBCAT RECOMMENDATION: I would not see this movie in theaters. The trailer sets you up to expect something great, but it isn’t a great film. The story of Moses is good, but the storytelling of Exodus: Gods and Kings is bad. I would wait to see this movie on DVD or Blu-Ray, and even then I might skip it.

Beyond the Lights

With her mother pushing her towards success, upcoming singer Noni is finally beginning to achieve fame. After a hard look at her life, she decides to take it but is saved by police officer Kaz who’s father pushes him towards politics. With each other, they begin to find what they truly want in life not just what they parents want for them.

Beyond the Lights blew me away. I found it hard to turn away. I knew it was a romantic, dramatic movie before I saw it. Normally I hate films of these particular genres, but decided to go because my brother wanted to go. All my expectations were smashed. It’s a great film, and there’s never a dull moment. It will make you think about love, fame, the expectations put before us, and what you truly want in life.

I liked this film so much! If you like love stories then you will love this film. Trust me when I say this movie is amazing. Beautiful acting, terrific story, and amazing drama filled story plots points help make this movie a masterpiece.

BOBCAT RECOMMENDATION: I really recommend this movie to everyone. If you’re more of an action, mystery, horror, or thriller movie buff then this movie might not be for you. If you like the Notebook, dramas, and or romance movies then this movie is definitely for you. I think anyone would like this movie though. See this film immediately!!!! I think Beyond the Lights isn’t in theaters currently, but trust me when I say you should definitely see this movie!!

Blogging Summary So Far

As this year comes to a close, I have contemplated my blogging experience. I have experimented with many different visual and media tools, promoted my blog on many different social media sites, and learned many different things along the way. It was a fun experience, but it’s not ending for a while. One of the big things I have learned is you need to stay blogging. If you let your blog die, then all your work becomes a flash in the pan even less if it wasn’t a flash. While I didn’t gain a huge following, the knowledge I obtained will definitely help in the future.

The tools I found most effective were IMovie, widgets, and YouTube. IMovie is a great tool to use for editing purposes and is very easy to use no matter what editing experience you have. WordPress.com has many great widgets that can help spruce up your blog. I added a Twitter, Instagram, and search bar widget to my blog. Now it looks better than just some pictures and paragraphs. Also, I found followers of my blog adding me on social media, and vice versa. Lastly I found YouTube to be valuable because of the exposure it offers. Anyone in the world can view your videos, and give you feedback. I plan on implementing YouTube videos into my blog more in future posts.

There were not many tools that I didn’t enjoy using, and I found there was no negative media tools. What matters is how you use those tools. Are you using it effectively? Is it working? Are people taking notice to what you are experimenting with? I would include more interactive tools like polls or surveys on my blog, but I just have to experiment more with all of the great resources WordPress offers.

I think this experience could greatly help me in the future because I have the opportunity to gain a following or the respect of bloggers with similar blogs or interests. I think I have something special here not because it’s super awesome, but because I’m passionate about the subject I’m blogging about. I think this will help greatly in the future because people will see I’m doing something I enjoy, I have opinions, and have a creative project that I work on. I think it can only be a positive, so I won’t let it die.

It’s been a great project to work on, and there’s a lot of work still to do. I think if I keep up with it and keep posting, I can only improve. I’m really passionate about this blog, and I hope people will see that more and more as I continue to work on this blog. Thanks for all the input, and be sure to keep up with the blog. Below is the face I make when I get a like, so be sure to like my posts haha.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

This is my first review using a video rather than written text. I have decided to review the film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. The film editing tool I used was IMovie, and it was surprisingly simple. I tend to talk with my hands, I have a monotonous voice, and  my neck is really weird, so be gentle and try not to destroy me in the comment section. If you want to find my YouTube channel, just search Bobcat Movie Reviews and you should have no problem locating it. Thank you, and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
